According to Michael Pizer : “Naftali Engleman was the Rabbi of Klodawa. He had three sons: Mylek, Atcha, and ?, and one daughter: Navna. One brother had a washing board and charged $1 a day to do laundry. Atcha, worked as a tailor for Avrum Francuz (cousin Yurig's father.)”

I’m Corey Brand, the great grandson of Shirley Sabcia Engelman Brand, originally from Wieruszow, Poland. Her parents were Aaron Engelman and Sarah Markowska, and her paternal grandparents were Izrael Engelman and Mirla Mojzesz. Izrael sat on the Wieruszow Town Council and was a prominent businessman. He was originally from Klodawa, and a son of Rabbi Efraim Bendet Engelman of Klodawa, and brother of Rabbis Shlomo and Naftali Engelman.
I see that you used to operate a Klodawa tribute website, where a found a few sentences about Naftali and Efraim Engelman. I also saw a picture there of Efraim, incredible, thank you! I was wondering what else I could learn about the Engelman family and the Engelman Rabbis.

Email 21MAY2020: Bachna Ganczyk: Hi, Judy and Corey! The Engelman family came to Kłodawa when Efroim Bendet assumed the position of rabbi. He performed it until his death. His son Szlomo became the rabbi. He was the last rabbi in Kłodawa. His wife was Esther née Engelman. Careful analysis of the database in the attachment will allow you to plot a fairly readable family tree. I also attached notes from the files of the registry office of the nineteenth century, births, weddings and deaths.
Rabbi Szlomo was also highly respected by Poles and Germans who had lived in Kłodawa since the 18th century. All the Engelmans in Kłodawa were family. When the Germans entered Kłodawa, the rabbi and all shul staff were murdered. The rest of the family were killed either in the Warsaw ghetto, or during forced labor, or in the Kulmhof death camp near Kłodawa (Chełmno on the Ner River). I also enclose a photo of the place where the synagogue, the rabbi's house and the Torah card that survived stood.
